Santiago Casilla原本是巨人隊的最後一道防線，但他在9月中被拔掉此位置，巨人隊在9局上用掉5名投手，Casilla依舊痴痴的等教練團決定他是否上場。
當巨人隊最終以5:6落敗，Santiago Casilla在更衣室裡痛哭。
「我在5年前根本沒有機會上場，我今年投得有點抖，但是大家(在牛棚的各位)都有過不少難過的時刻，我覺得他們忘記了那些我帶給他們的美好時刻，我在季後賽投得夠多，我也能做好我的工作，我知道我是一位好投手。」Casilla說。
本季Casilla有9次救援失敗，是美職最多，31次救援成功，而他9月的表現，也是巨人隊在爭取外卡資格的最大問題。
Casilla說：「我是一位投手，我也是牛棚的一份子，我知道我在9月有些不好的時刻，但我在季後賽成績不錯，我知道我可以在這種時刻投球。」
Casilla認為自己是大聯盟等級的投手，即便他已有36歲，但他幫巨人隊拿下2010、2012、2014年的世界大賽冠軍，25場季後賽登板，他防禦率僅0.92，他從未在季後賽救援失敗。
